W1.2 - Searching

If you have a topic candidate then you identify and discuss connections to computer science research areas as well as application areas ( More bottom-up approach ).

If you have no topic, you try to identify a (DV) course that you were interested in and search for what has happened in that field over the last 5 years (top-down approach).

Task 1:

Within each group. Discuss the application and research areas of the different topic candidates you have within the group. Make a funnel for each research area.

Task 2.

Together by shared screen: Find one review article each covering a part of computer science (for example a literature review article). Here you might need to broaden your search if you have a very specific topic.

Task 3.

Find and list all articles that cite an article of interest.

  • Use keywords and search-engines
  • Speed read an article each and tell the other student what it was about after each part.
    • Title
    • Abstract
    • Introduction & Conclusion
