Experience of an example thesis

The work students do on their Student Project Proposal should more or less be able to be translated directly into their thesis. In order to motivate time spent we are going to read the first chapter of a thesis from last year to discuss.

Task 1.

Task 2.

Discuss what is the application area and what is the research area this belongs to?

Task 3.

Begin with deciding which parts of text to include for this next session. Extract different groups of sentences belonging to a set of references.

EXAMPLE

First, categorize these sentences are used to describe the:

• Application Area as described in the course introduction.
• Research Area (within computer science) as described in the course introduction.
• Related work as described in the course introduction.

Secondly, try to categorize what role(s) that sentences have in the section.
