1DV031 — Retake in August 2020

Dear students,

This announcement concerns those of you who have not completed (or failed) some parts of the course 1DV031. As it was announced previously at https://mymoodle.lnu.se/course/view.php?id=36989 , the course is going to be terminated, so several retake opportunities will be provided (August 2020, April 2021, August 2021).

  • In order to be eligible to submit your retake assignments, you *must* officially sign up for the retake activity via Ladok (similarly to the formal registration process for exams in other courses, see https://lnu.se/student/under-studierna/tentamen/ )
  • Deadline for the Ladok registration: August 12. We will not be able to accept your retake submissions if you do not register on time. When registering for the retake, please use the options corresponding to the course that you have taken. For example, the courses given until (and including) 2018 include Assignment 1 (1.5 hp), Assignment 2 (1.5 hp),  and Assignment 3 (4.5 hp). The courses given in 2019 and 2020 include Assignment 1 (2.5 hp) and Assignment 2 (5 hp) on Ladok.
  • If you are signing up for the retake concerning the 2019 or 2020 course (i.e., Assignment 1 (2.5 hp) and/or Assignment 2 (5 hp)), you can follow the current assignment instructions (used for the 2020 course) available in this course page.
  • If you are signing up for the retake concerning the older courses (that involved the older set of three assignments), please contact Kostiantyn Kucher <kostiantyn.kucher@lnu.se> (or via CoursePress Slack) for further instructions, as the instructions might change in this case.
  • Deadline for the actual retake submission: August 25
  • The oral examination associated with the final assignments will take place in week 35 after the deadline. Kostiantyn will post further instructions related to the oral examination in August.
  • If you require access to the course Github or CS Cloud, please contact Kostiantyn in good time before the deadlines. If you have other questions related to the retake, please contact Kostiantyn as well.

Have a nice summer and good luck with your retake submissions!

VT20 – 1DV031 – Second chance for assignment 2 + oral examination (week 26)

Dear students,

As previously announced, there is going to be a second chance for submitting assignment 2 and passing the oral examination in week 26 (late June 2020).

  • The oral examination will be performed as an individual Zoom meeting, which will take around 30 minutes for each student. The details for the Zoom meeting will be shared via Slack (the same Zoom meeting as used for the latest peer instruction sessions with Kostiantyn).
  • Please sign up for a time slot using the following form: https://forms.gle/o5NzoqbQbsW7yiPh8  ⇒ deadline for signing up: Monday, June 22, 11:59 AM (noon)
  • If all of the time slots for Tuesday in week 26 are booked, please contact Kostiantyn Kucher, and further slots will be decided on.
  • Remember that the deadline for the second chance for submitting assignment 2 (“examination 2″) is Monday, June 22, 08:00 AM. Please make a new release in your Github repository to indicate your submission. If you previously got a fail grade (“U”) for assignment 2, please add a short note about how you addressed the feedback and improved your assignment.
  • Finally, if you have already passed the oral examination successfully, you do not have to do it again.

VT20 – 1DV031 – Oral examination (week 23) + second chance for assignment 2 (week 26)

Dear students,

As previously announced, the assessment of the second part of this course is going to include an oral examination session (in addition to practical assignment 2). In order to pass the second part of the course, you mush pass both the practical part of the assignment as well as the oral examination.

  • The oral examination will be performed as an individual Zoom meeting, which will take around 30 minutes for each student. The details for the Zoom meeting will be shared via Slack (the same Zoom meeting as used for the latest peer instruction sessions with Kostiantyn).
  • Please sign up for a time slot using the following form: https://forms.gle/pTQBUfKGm7xFNgE6A  ⇒ deadline for signing up: Monday, June 1, 11:59 AM (noon)
  • If all of the time slots for Tuesday and Wednesday in week 23 are booked, please contact Kostiantyn Kucher, and further slots will be decided on.
  • Remember that the deadline for submitting assignment 2 (“examination 2″) is Monday, June 1, 08:00 AM. Please make a new release in your Github repository to indicate your submission.
  • Please make sure to be ready to demonstrate a valid ID during the oral examination session.
  • The contents of the oral examination session will include the materials from the second part of this course as well your practical assignment. Please be ready to share your screen via Zoom and demonstrate your CS Cloud project dashboard, connect to one of the instances via SSH, demonstrate the work of your web servers, etc.

Since there previously was a second chance opportunity to submit the first assignment in this course, we will also provide the same opportunity for the second assignment + oral examination (for those students who do not submit their assignment on time or fail it, or miss/fail the oral examination, respectively).

  • Deadline for the second chance for submitting assignment 2 (“examination 2″): Monday, June 22, 08:00 AM (the date will also be published to the timetable)
  • Time slots for the second chance to pass the oral examination in week 26 will be published later.
  • Note: if you pass the second part of the course (the G grade), we will not consider further attempts to improve the grade (to the VG grade) during the second chance.
