Course instructors

We who work on the course are:

  • Johan Hagelbäck, course manager. Contact Johan if you have any questions regarding course contents, lectures, assignments or the project, or web intelligence in general.
  • Mats Loock, assisting lecturer. Contact Jonas if you have any questions regarding course management, enrollment, registrations, reporting of grades, GitLab, etc..

The best way to contact the staff is on Slack. Jonas have an office in Växjö, Mats in Kalmar. Johan is primarily working as an AI specialist in the industry and does not have an office at the university.

About the course

The course is primarily a self-study course. There are seven pre-recorded lectures (including the course introduction) you can watch at your own pace, and four assignments, and a project you have to submit. There are deadlines for when the assignments and project shall be finished, but there will be resubmission opportunities if you miss any deadline. All deadlines and instructions for submissions can be found in Deadlines and submissions.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for the course are 60 credits in computer science or equivalent.

More specifically, you will create web applications with a server part and a client part in several tasks. The server part should provide a REST API, and the client part should retrieve data through the REST API and present it.

Communication

The primary communication channel in the course is Slack. Create an account at coursepress.slack.com and join channel #2DV515. Note that you must sign up with your @student.lnu.se email address.

During the oral exams, Zoom is used. Make sure that the camera and sound works and that you can share your screen before the oral exams.

Tutoring

If you need tutoring, start asking the question on Slack. In the schedule, you will find opportunities for individual tutoring.. Make sure you take advantage of the opportunity for tutoring as the assignments and the project can be pretty challenging.

Where do I start?

Start by looking at the introduction and first lectures, and then start working on the first assignment. The deadline is the third Monday since the course started!

Also, don't forget to register for the course before registration closes! If you don't register, you cannot submit assignments.
